The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the immediate closure of its Premium Passport Application Centres in Accra and Kumasi, effective February 20, 2026.

In a press statement issued on Monday, February 23, the Ministry indicated that the directive affects all applicants who have been using the premium facilities, including individuals with pending applications.

According to the statement, clients who had opted for services at the premium centres are now required to complete their passport processing at the designated Regional Passport Application Centres.

To ease the transition, the Ministry has advised affected applicants to contact the Passport Office Client Service Unit on 0302-754-200 for further guidance and clarification regarding their applications.

While the statement did not specify the reasons for the closure, the Ministry sought to reassure the public that passport processing services will continue uninterrupted through the regular regional offices.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to take this opportunity to assure the general public of its commitment to deliver quality public service,” the statement noted.

The closure marks a significant adjustment to passport service delivery in Ghana’s two major cities, where the premium centres were introduced to provide expedited and enhanced application services.

Officials maintain that despite the shutdown of the premium facilities, measures are in place to ensure efficient and effective passport processing nationwide.
