The FoSCel Foundation has taken another major step in its mission to promote awareness and understanding of Sickle Cell Disease among Ghanaian youth. On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the Foundation’s outreach team visited nine basic schools in Winneba as part of its ongoing Educational Tour, engaging hundreds of students and teachers in interactive discussions about Sickle Cell awareness, prevention, and management.

According to the team, the visits were highly successful, with teachers and pupils showing great enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the sessions. The facilitators shared knowledge through storytelling, interactive activities, and the use of specially designed comics that simplify complex medical information for young audiences.

“The engagement was amazing. The students asked very insightful questions, and it was inspiring to see how eager they were to learn,” a team member said. “Many of the schools also commended our approach and pledged to continue spreading awareness on Sickle Cell Disease within their communities.”

The Foundation described the initiative as part of its broader commitment to educate and empower the next generation to make informed health choices. The Educational Tour aims to make Sickle Cell education both accessible and engaging, breaking down stigma and misconceptions surrounding the condition.

FoSCel Foundation’s work has received widespread recognition in Winneba and beyond for its innovative blend of health communication, youth engagement, and community outreach. The team expressed optimism about expanding the project to reach more schools and communities in the Effutu Municipality and across Ghana.

“We’re truly making an impact, one school at a time,” the Foundation noted in a statement. “Our goal is to ensure that every child understands Sickle Cell Disease, not as a taboo, but as a condition that can be managed with the right knowledge and care.”
