Award-winning online journalist Kobby Kyei has revealed that he left his teaching career to fully pursue blogging, a decision that came with immense challenges but ultimately paid off.

Speaking on The Career Trail programme on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, Kyei said he chose to focus on positive blogging despite friends advising him to create an anonymous gossip page to make quick money.

“I gave them one answer: it has stolen my soul and my spirit. I wouldn’t want a Kobby Kyei who is positive on one page and then the same soul disgracing people on the internet with another page. No,” he said.

Kyei acknowledged that building a brand centred on positivity was difficult. “You post content and you don’t get the likes or the viewership. The people insulting celebrities online are the ones who get attention. But I kept pushing; I kept posting,” he said.

The journalist explained that his decision to leave teaching was driven by passion and a desire to make a difference in the media space. “I knew it was going to be hard, but there’s always glory at the end of the tunnel. Today, it has paid off,” he added.

Kobby Kyei’s journey highlights the risks and rewards of leaving a stable career to pursue one’s passion, and serves as an inspiration to those seeking to follow unconventional paths to success.
