A communications team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Theophilus Dzimegah Jnr, has dismissed claims that the State has lost the battle against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, Dzimegah urged Ghanaians to exercise patience and allow the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) enough time to produce tangible results in its operations.
He argued that recent attacks on NAIMOS officials should not be misconstrued as signs of failure, emphasizing that the fight against galamsey is a complex national challenge requiring sustained collaboration.
According to him, the government’s anti-galamsey strategy demands continuous public support, effective coordination, and commitment from all stakeholders to safeguard Ghana’s natural environment for future generations.
