Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, is calling on Ghanaians to offer compassion, solidarity, and prayers for victims and families affected by the tragic stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the Minister said the government is fully engaged in coordinating support systems for the injured and bereaved. She revealed that she had met with the Deputy Defence Minister to align their interventions after visiting victims receiving care at the 37 Military Hospital.

“We shared our respective plans so that everything we do for these families is unified and effective,” she noted.

Madam Lartey, who later visited the homes of some victims, described the experience as deeply distressing.

“We were at Miss Amoateng’s residence in Adenta, and another home in Kpone Katamanso. The atmosphere in those homes was heartbreaking,” she said, adding that her team will next visit affected families in the Central Region.

She reaffirmed government’s commitment to standing with every affected household through treatment, recovery, and emotional healing.

“This is a very painful period for the families, but we want them to know they are not alone. We will continue to walk with them,” she assured.

The Minister also appealed to the media to approach their coverage with empathy, stressing that many families are still grappling with shock and grief.

“We must be mindful of their emotions. They are dealing with so much right now,” she urged.

Madam Lartey encouraged the public to continue praying for the injured and bereaved, emphasising that national compassion is essential in moments of collective tragedy.

“I ask everyone to keep these families in their prayers. They need strength, and the country must stand with them,” she said.
