Ghana has thrown its support behind a new 20-point Gaza peace proposal introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump, describing it as a bold and promising framework for ending the protracted conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, Accra hailed the initiative as a “groundbreaking” step toward restoring peace, rebuilding Gaza, and ensuring lasting stability for both Israelis and Palestinians.

“The proposal presents a viable pathway toward a comprehensive and enduring peace,” the ministry said. “Ghana believes the plan offers hope to millions of civilians who have endured immense suffering and displacement over the years.”

The government reaffirmed Ghana’s long-standing commitment to global peace and multilateral diplomacy, emphasizing its readiness to collaborate with international partners to foster dialogue and sustain momentum toward reconciliation.

“Ghana stands ready to work with all parties and stakeholders to advance this peace initiative,” the statement added. “We urge the international community to rally behind the effort and encourage all sides to commit fully to the process.”

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa further underscored Ghana’s belief in diplomacy as the most effective path to resolving conflicts. He noted that peace in the Middle East would not only bring relief to civilians but also strengthen global security and cooperation.

Ghana’s endorsement adds its voice to a growing number of nations urging restraint and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence in the region. As one of Africa’s most stable democracies, Ghana continues to champion peace and humanitarian initiatives both within the continent and on the global stage.
