The Deputy General Secretary of the United Party, Nana Yaw Sarpong, has expressed concern over what he describes as Ghana’s chronic leadership deficit, emphasizing that the country’s main challenge is not the absence of resources but the lack of integrity and enforcement of the rule of law.

Speaking during a panel discussion on #Newsfile, Nana Yaw Sarpong stated that Ghana possesses all the natural and human resources needed for progress, yet continues to struggle with effective governance due to leaders’ unwillingness to uphold honesty and accountability.

“We do have everything as a country, but what we lack is that leadership of integrity, and ready to enforce the law and rules of our land,” he remarked.

He noted that corruption, impunity, and weak institutions have derailed the nation’s potential, calling for a new generation of leaders who are bold enough to act in the interest of the people rather than political gain.

According to him, leadership of integrity is not merely about competence but about moral courage,  the willingness to do what is right even when it is unpopular. He urged Ghanaians to hold leaders accountable and demand transparency at all levels of governance.

Nana Yaw Sarpong’s statement has resonated widely on social media, where many users echoed similar sentiments about the need for strong, principled leadership to drive Ghana’s development agenda.
