Accra, Ghana Police Service (GPS) is intensifying its fight against cybercrime through the deployment of advanced cyber intelligence tools and international data-sharing platforms.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, the Minister noted that the GPS, particularly through its Cybercrime and Digital Forensic Unit, is now better equipped to identify, track, and neutralize threats ranging from mobile money fraud to online impersonation and extortion.
“In this fast-evolving landscape, proactive intelligence gathering and threat monitoring are essential. To this end, the GPS is employing cyber intelligence, open-source intelligence techniques, and internal as well as international data-sharing platforms to identify, track, and neutralize threats before they escalate,” Mr. Mubarak emphasized
The Minister highlighted that these measures are already yielding results, with several cybercrime syndicates dismantled through collaborations with international law enforcement agencies. He added that government remains committed to equipping the police with cutting-edge tools to safeguard Ghanaians in the digital age.
With cybercrime on the rise globally, Ghana’s move toward adopting advanced intelligence frameworks and cross-border partnerships is seen as a crucial step in protecting both individuals and businesses.
