Ghana’s Black Stars have officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, securing their fifth appearance in the tournament’s history. The team sealed their spot with a 1-0 victory over Comoros in their final group match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Mohammed Kudus scored the decisive goal in the 47th minute, tapping home a pass from Thomas Partey to send the stadium into jubilant celebrations. The win capped off a dominant qualification campaign for Ghana, who topped Group I with 25 points from 10 matches.
Ghana’s qualification marks a significant milestone for the country’s football team, which has a rich history in the sport. The Black Stars have previously appeared in the World Cup in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022, with their best finish being the quarterfinals in 2010.
The Black Stars will now await the FIFA World Cup 26 Final Draw, scheduled for December 5, 2025, at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The draw will determine Ghana’s opponents in the group stage of the tournament, which will feature 48 teams from around the world.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across three North American countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Ghana’s qualification is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication, and fans are eagerly anticipating the team’s performance in the upcoming tournament.
