The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has strongly rejected a report by Asaaseradio claiming that the statutory body suffered over GH¢3 billion in losses during its first year of operations.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 17, GoldBoddescribed the publication as “entirely false and deliberately contrived” to undermine its achievements and downplay its contribution to Ghana’s economic recovery.
“The GoldBod wishes to make it clear that the report is completely false and deliberately designed to discredit the successes and significant contributions of the Board to the revitalisation of Ghana’s economy,” the statement said.
Contrary to the allegations, GoldBod said it has posted “significant surpluses” since its inception. The organisation added that its upcoming quarterly financial statements, to be published on its official website, will confirm its profitability.
“Quarterly financial statements of the GoldBod, soon to be made available on the official website, will clearly demonstrate the organisation’s financial health,” the statement noted.
GoldBod urged the public to disregard the Asaaseradio report, calling it misleading and unethical. The Board also demanded a full retraction and an unqualified apology from the media house.
“The Ghana Gold Board calls on the management of Asaaseradio to retract this false publication and issue an unqualified apology to the public for disseminating such misleading and unethical information,” it added.
