New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Kpandai, Hon. Matthew Nyindam, has expressed deep frustration over what he describes as unfair treatment in the ongoing legal processes surrounding the ordered re-run of the Kpandai parliamentary primary.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, Mr. Nyindam insisted that the decision by the Court to adjourn ruling on his application for a stay of execution has further burdened him, despite his willingness to serve his constituents.
“I do not know the crime I have committed in this country to deserve this,” he lamented. “Why is my case different from that of others? I strongly believe in the will of God and that of the good people of Kpandai. My Lord has not forsaken me and so have the good people of Kpandai.”
According to the former MP, the legal team representing him had made a strong case, yet the presiding judge postponed the decision on the stay of execution application to 18th December.
“What they are doing to me in this country, the least said about it the better,” he added. “The lawyers did their best, but the judge says we should come back to court on the 18th of December before he can give his ruling.”
Mr. Nyindam also questioned why his situation was receiving different treatment compared to other cases in Parliament where seats were not immediately declared vacant while legal challenges were still pending.
“The minority caucus is doing their best for me,” he noted. “There have been several instances like mine which Parliament did not declare their seats vacant until they fought their legal battles to the end. But in my case, it has been different.”
He further stressed that the people of Kpandai had given him a strong mandate in the previous election, insisting that their decision must not be undermined.
“Look at the trouble they are subjecting me to. It is not like I am a thief,” he stated. “The people of Kpandai voted for me with almost a 4,000-vote difference. I am someone willing to defend the good people of Kpandai
