Residents of Kasoa New Market in the Awutu Senya East Municipality are reeling after the body of a three-day-old baby was discovered near the Okrudu River under shocking circumstances.
According to reports, the infant may have been killed by the mother, who allegedly dumped the newborn by the riverside for reasons yet unknown. Eyewitnesses told Adom News that animals had already begun feeding on the body by the time it was found.
Nash Nyande, Director of the Awutu Senya East National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), confirmed that the police were immediately informed, and the corpse was retrieved and deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary.
Authorities have launched investigations to identify and apprehend the suspect as the community grapples with the horrifying discovery.
