New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has expressed deep disappointment over what he describes as betrayal by an individual identified as Asiamah, accusing him of turning against him despite the support he received in the past.
Speaking to party delegates, Mr. Agyapong said he played a significant role in Asiamah’s political rise, stressing that his current actions amount to ingratitude.
“I have done a lot of things for Asiamah. Today, he has the confidence to campaign against me,” he stated.
According to the outspoken politician, Asiamah was struggling politically when he first encountered him. He recalled that Asiamah was contesting against Hon. Ayeh, an election that ended in a tie and had to be rerun.
“I took him from a point where he had nothing. The first time I saw him, he was in a suit, contesting against Hon. Ayeh. When the election ended in a draw and became dangerous, I advised him to withdraw and follow me,” he recounted.
Mr. Agyapong said their relationship was once cordial, adding that he continued to support Asiamah even after he secured a position.
“He was a good friend. When he got a position, I was visiting his office all the time. Today, that same person is campaigning against me,” he said.
Describing ingratitude as self-destructive, Mr. Agyapong warned that such conduct carries consequences, though he insisted he would not personally curse his former ally.
“An ungrateful person can gain many things in this world, but he will lose them. I will not curse Asiamah, but the punishment he will face is natural justice,” he declared.
