Founder of the Union Party, Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike, has confirmed his intention to contest the 2028 presidential election, positioning himself as an alternative voice in Ghana’s political landscape.
Speaking in a recent interview, Mr. Odike criticised the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), suggesting that the party appears more focused on selecting a flagbearer than preparing a credible presidential candidate.
“The NPP looks like they are only interested in choosing a flagbearer and not a presidential candidate,” he stated.
Mr. Odike also turned his attention to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), urging the administration to prioritise economic recovery rather than self-praise.
He acknowledged that the NDC’s governance framework shows promise but argued that economic conditions remain difficult for ordinary Ghanaians.
“The governance structure of the NDC is not bad, but the economy is not yet okay. They should stop bragging and focus on fixing the economy,” he said.
