Ghana is expected to experience bouts of rain and thunderstorms today as a thick mass of rain clouds moving from southern Benin and Togo heads westward into the country.

According to the Ghana Meteorological Agency, the cloud system will sweep across several coastal and forest zones from the morning into the late afternoon, producing rainfall of varying intensity and pockets of thunderstorms along its path.

Communities in the southern sector, including Accra, Aflao, Kasoa, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, Ho, Koforidua, Akim Oda, Kumasi, Obuasi and Tarkwa, should anticipate mostly cloudy conditions. In many of these places, isolated thunderstorms or short bursts of rain are expected to form as the system moves inland.

While the coastal belt may be hit with periods of heavy downpours, some inland areas are likely to experience scattered thunder activity and brief but intense showers.

In contrast, the northern half of the country is forecast to stay relatively dry. However, slight haze could appear in some locations, reducing visibility. Forested and elevated communities may also see early morning mist and fog, creating potential challenges for motorists.

Night-time in the upper parts of the country is expected to be cooler than the day, offering a bit of relief from the warm daytime temperatures. Sea conditions along the coast remain generally calm.

The Meteorological Agency is urging the public to remain cautious, especially those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Residents are also advised to limit unnecessary movement during heavy rain or thunderstorm periods to avoid danger.
