Ghana’s Acting Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has led the Judiciary in mourning the passing of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as “a woman whose life redefined service and courage.”
In a heartfelt statement released in Accra, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie reflected on the late former First Lady’s lifelong advocacy for gender equality, social justice, and women’s empowerment, values he said continue to inspire national progress.
“Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings stood for vision, strength, and conviction. Her unwavering pursuit of justice for women and children changed the course of Ghana’s social development,” the statement read.
The Judiciary praised the former First Lady for founding the 31st December Women’s Movement, a pioneering organization that empowered thousands of women through education, entrepreneurship, and political participation.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie noted that the late Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ commitment to equity and national service mirrored the principles of justice that guide Ghana’s courts.
“Her leadership transcended politics; it was about purpose. Through her voice and actions, she reminded us that the strength of a nation lies in how it uplifts its women,” he added.
