The campaign team of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has described his placement at the top of the ballot paper for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries as a divine signal of victory and renewed hope.

At the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, on Friday, October 10, five aspirants drew lots to determine their positions ahead of the January 2026 primaries. Mr. Agyapong’s name appeared first, a development his team says has lifted the spirit of their campaign.

Spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng, addressing journalists after the exercise, said the team was satisfied with how the process was conducted, describing it as transparent and democratic.

“We are grateful for how smoothly everything went. Being number one is more than symbolic, it gives us an advantage in visibility and motivates our team. We see it as a divine message,” he said.

According to him, the campaign remains focused on its message rather than the ballot position, adding that Agyapong’s promise of “change, renewal, and jobs” continues to resonate strongly with party delegates.

“Our goal is unchanged, we’re reaching every delegate with our message of hope and opportunity. Ken Agyapong stands for jobs, jobs, and more jobs,” he added.

Mr. Kwarteng rejected suggestions that drawing the first slot again mirrors the 2024 flagbearer contest, where Mr. Agyapong also picked number one but lost.

“This election is completely different. We believe this is divine timing, not coincidence,” he noted confidently.

He disclosed that the campaign team will soon intensify its nationwide outreach to interact with delegates directly, ensuring they understand Mr. Agyapong’s vision for a stronger economy and empowered youth.

“We will continue to engage, inspire, and trust that God will guide this process toward victory,” he said.

The NPP presidential primaries are scheduled for January 31, 2026, with Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong vying for the party’s flagbearer slot.
