KNIGHTS OF ST. JOHN HOLD 15TH BIENNIAL GRAND CONVENTION AT UEW

The Cape Coast Grand Commandery and Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John International have officially opened their 15th Biennial Grand Convention at the University of Education, Winneba (North Campus).

The four-day convention, scheduled for September 25 to 28, 2025, is being held under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope: Advancing in Faith, Unity & Service.” The event brings together members of the Catholic fraternal order and its affiliates from across the region, focusing on strengthening faith, fostering unity, and deepening service to the Church and society.

Several distinguished personalities are gracing the convention as special guests. They include:

  • Stephen Jobson Mitchual, Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba
  • Nana Ghartey VII, Omanhen of the Effutu Traditional Area
  • Rev. Atta-Mensah, Effutu Municipal Chief Executive
  • Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament and MP for Effutu
  • James Kofi Annan, Executive Director of Challenging Heights, Winneba

The presence of these dignitaries highlights the importance of collaboration between religious, academic, political, and traditional leaders in building strong communities anchored in faith and service.

The convention, which is held every two years, also provides members of the Knights and Ladies’ Auxiliary the opportunity to reflect on their mission, renew their commitment to the Catholic Church, and deliberate on strategies for impactful social action.

Participants are expected to engage in spiritual exercises, workshops, and community outreach activities, all aimed at promoting the values of faith, unity, and selfless service.

The event has drawn large numbers of members dressed in their official regalia, creating a vibrant and solemn atmosphere in Winneba.
