The Paramount Chief of the Kpandai Traditional Area, Nana Bristiam Okore Atosah II, has assured the public that the area remains calm and stable despite recent political controversy surrounding the declaration of the Kpandai parliamentary seat as vacant.
Speaking in a brief interview on Sompa FM, the chief dismissed suggestions that tensions were escalating in the community.
“We have peace in Kpandai,” Nana Bristiam Okore Atosah II stated, emphasising that residents are going about their normal activities without fear or disruption.
Although the interview was short, the chief’s message was clear: Kpandai remains united and orderly, and the traditional authorities are committed to maintaining stability as national political processes unfold.
The Kpandai parliamentary seat, previously held by Matthew Nyindam of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was formally declared vacant after a High Court ruling annulled the results of the 2024 parliamentary election and ordered a rerun. Parliament notified the Electoral Commission of the vacancy following the court’s directive, delivered on 24 November 2025, setting in motion constitutional processes for a fresh election in the constituency. Nyindam has filed appeals and applications for judicial review against the ruling, but none have yet been adjudicated.
