National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Kpandai, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, has expressed strong confidence ahead of the upcoming by-election, declaring that he will defeat the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Matthew Nyindam “by more than 5,000 votes.”

Speaking in an interview on Sompa FM, the former MP said the people of Kpandai are ready to reaffirm their support for him, insisting that his victory will not be driven by the fact that his party currently forms the government.

“I will beat the NPP’s Matthew Nyindam by more than 5,000 votes in the Kpandai constituency election re-run,” he said. “People are not going to vote for me because my government is in power. Even on a level playing field, I will win the election convincingly.”

Wakpal argued that his development record in the constituency, even while in opposition, surpasses the achievements of his NPP contender.

“I assure the people of Kpandai of development. Even in opposition, the kind of development I have done surpasses that of Matthew Nyindam,” he added.

The Kpandai seat was previously held by Matthew Nyindam (NPP) until a High Court annulled the results of the 2024 parliamentary election and ordered a fresh poll. Parliament subsequently declared the seat vacant and notified the Electoral Commission, triggering preparations for a by-election. Nyindam has since filed an appeal at the High Court and a judicial review at the Supreme Court, which are yet to be determined.
