The Member of Parliament for Krachi Nchumuru, Hon. Solomon Kuyon, has commissioned a newly renovated National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) office in Chinderi, the district capital, to enhance access to quality healthcare and insurance services for residents.
The upgraded facility will facilitate health insurance registration, renewals, and related services, significantly reducing the need for residents to travel long distances to access National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) operations.
Speaking to Adom News after the commissioning, Hon. Kuyon said the project aligns with his commitment to strengthening public institutions and expanding social services within the constituency.
“This is the first time Krachi Nchumuru is having an autonomous NHIA office. It will help bring health insurance services closer to our people. It’s our collective responsibility to ensure that every resident has access to affordable healthcare,” he stated.
He also dismissed social media claims suggesting the district had no NHIA office, describing them as false and misleading.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Krachi Nchumuru, Mr. Martin Kofi Anato, praised the MP for the initiative, noting that the facility would not only enhance healthcare delivery but also create employment opportunities for local residents.
The Oti Regional Director of the NHIA, Mr. Jelious Nilimor, commended the MP for his foresight, describing the renovated office as a “game-changer” for healthcare access in the district. He assured that the NHIA would post adequate staff to the facility and ensure its sustainability.
Traditional leaders, including the Ankobea Hene of Bejamse Traditional Area and Chief of Chinderi, Nana Okogye, joined community members in expressing gratitude to the MP. They noted that the new office would save residents both time and travel costs, as they previously had to journey to Kete Krachi for NHIS-related services.
The renovated NHIA office forms part of broader efforts by government and local authorities to decentralize healthcare administration and improve service delivery in rural and underserved communities across Ghana.
