Residents of Yilo and Lower Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region have taken to the streets to protest the poor condition of the Somanya-Odumase-Kpong road.

The protest, held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, was led by community and youth groups who say the 24-kilometre stretch has been neglected for years. They claim the bad road is making life unbearable, damaging vehicles, and affecting health and business activities.

In a petition to President Mahama, the residents demanded that the government fix the road within 60 days and use stronger materials to withstand heavy trucks that use the route.

They also called for temporary repairs, such as grading and dust control, while waiting for full construction to resume.

The groups warned that if their demands are not met, they will take further action to press for change.
