Kwahu West Municipal Assembly has taken delivery of a new ambulance to restore full emergency response capacity, three months after the municipality lost its only ambulance in a road accident.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Tamimu Halidu, presented the vehicle to the Ambulance Service on Thursday, noting that the previous ambulance was completely wrecked in a crash along the Nkawkaw–Abirem stretch. He said the absence of the vehicle had severely affected emergency operations and delayed response to critical cases.
Mr. Halidu described the replacement as a major boost to healthcare delivery in the municipality, assuring that the Assembly remained committed to strengthening institutions that provide essential public services. He further indicated plans to support agencies such as DOCSVU and the NCCE with vehicles to aid their work.
Receiving the ambulance, the Municipal Ambulance Commander for Nkawkaw, Charles Dumenu, expressed appreciation for the intervention and appealed for an additional vehicle to meet the growing demand for emergency services in the area. According to him, the current caseload and wide coverage area make a second ambulance necessary to ensure timely response across all communities.
