The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park has once again taken centre stage in Ghana’s tourism landscape, earning a prestigious award for outstanding Tourism Site and Attraction Development at this year’s Ghana Tourism Awards.

The Ghana Tourism Authority praised the park for its impressive facelift, describing the revamped facility as a “world-class heritage destination” that vividly tells the story of Ghana’s independence struggle. According to the Authority, the redesigned space has become a symbol of national pride, drawing growing numbers of visitors from both Ghana and abroad.

Dr. Collins Rawlings Nunyonameh, Acting Executive Director of the park, said the award is a validation of the hard work invested in repositioning the facility as a premier historical attraction. He dedicated the achievement to the entire staff, noting that their commitment has been central to the park’s renewed success.

He added that the team is more determined than ever to uphold and expand the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, ensuring that his ideals continue to influence national and continental conversations.

Dr. Nunyonameh also expressed appreciation to key supporters of the park’s redevelopment, including Tourism Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie, GTA CEO Maame Efua Huadjeto, and the awards jury chairman, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, who also serves as GTA’s Deputy CEO in charge of Marketing.

Reaffirming the park’s alignment with the National Democratic Congress’ reset agenda and the vision of President John Dramani Mahama, he said the monumental site will continue to evolve to meet the expectations placed on it as a national symbol and cultural landmark.
