Kweku Flick says he owns all his masters, clarifies status with former management

Ghanaian musician Kweku Flick has stated that he fully owns the masters to his songs, explaining that he was never signed to a record label but rather worked with a management team under mutually agreed terms.

Speaking in an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, the rapper disclosed that he personally drafted the contract terms that governed his relationship with his former management outfit, BKC, ensuring that ownership of his musical works remained with him.

“I drafted my own contract terms to BKC, so I own all my masters,” Kweku Flick said.

He explained that the agreement went through without amendments, as both parties were aligned on the vision and momentum at the time.

“There were no amendments because they all liked the energywe were bringing on board,” he added.

Kweku Flick emphasized that his ownership of his masters gives him full creative and performance freedom, dismissing any claims that his former management could restrict his use of his own music.

“BKC cannot prevent me from playing my own songs; I can use my own songs freely,” he stated.

Clarifying his professional status, the musician stressed that he has always operated as an independent artist.

“I own all my masters. I am an independent artist and have never been on a label before. I had a management team, but I was not on a record label,” he said.
