President John Dramani Mahama has successfully concluded his visit to the Ashanti Region, where he led a delegation to commiserate with the families of key members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and regional leadership who have recently lost their loved ones.
The visit, which took place earlier this week, was marked by solemnity and solidarity as the President personally extended his condolences to bereaved families across the region.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the NDC’s Ashanti Regional Secretary, outlined the President’s itinerary and expressed deep appreciation to all who supported the visit.
According to him, President Mahama first visited the family of Hon. Samuel Aboagye in Obuasi, before proceeding to Juaben, where he sympathized with the family of Hon. Dr. Samuel Sarpong. Both Hon. Aboagye and Dr. Sarpong tragically lost their lives in the helicopter crash that occurred in August this year.
The President later joined Madam Faustina Dery and her family in Kumasi to mourn the passing of her mother, rounding off a day of emotional engagements and solidarity.
Dr. Amoakohene, in his statement, extended profound appreciation to traditional leaders (Nananom), party executives, government appointees, security agencies, the media, and the general public for their cooperation and decorum throughout the President’s visit.
“Your collective efforts ensured a peaceful, dignified, and well-coordinated exercise across all venues,” he wrote.
He further expressed special gratitude to President Mahama for his leadership and unwavering commitment to the people of the Ashanti Region, emphasizing the government’s continued dedication to peace, unity, and development within the region.
Dr. Amoakohene concluded by thanking all stakeholders whose efforts contributed to the success of the visit, reaffirming the NDC’s resolve to maintain strong ties with the region and to stand with families in times of grief and need.
