President John Mahama says his administration is determined to push Ghana’s progress to a point where future governments, regardless of which political party is in power, will be unable to derail the country’s forward march.

Addressing members of the Christian Council of Ghana during a courtesy call at Jubilee House on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the President said the mandate entrusted to him is a chance to implement reforms that leave a lasting national footprint.

According to Mahama, Ghana’s development must be anchored in systems and structures strong enough to withstand political transitions.
“My focus is to take Ghana to a stage where no government that comes after us will be able to undo the gains we are making,” he declared.

He warned that the effects of global economic shocks and regional political instability show how fragile progress can be when nations lack strong governance foundations.

Mahama stressed that his administration is therefore prioritising policies that fortify Ghana’s institutions and economy. This includes addressing immediate governance and financial problems, such as corruption cases stemming from the previous administration, to ensure that national resources are protected and redirected toward development.

The President also pointed to the disciplined implementation of the 2026 Budget as a key step in stabilising the fiscal environment. Strengthening investor confidence, he added, is central to attracting the foreign investment needed to drive industrial growth and expand opportunities in the private sector.

Mahama reiterated that the reforms being introduced are meant not only to solve today’s challenges but to secure Ghana’s long-term stability and prosperity.
