The Ghana Police Service has taken Samuel Obeng Acheampong into custody following the circulation of a viral video showing him giving a child what is believed to be a cigarette.
The arrest, carried out on 22 November 2025, was the result of an intelligence-led operation by law enforcement.
During questioning, Acheampong admitted to the act, explaining that the incident occurred around five years ago. He remains in police custody as authorities continue their investigation and is expected to appear in court to face formal charges.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding children from abuse and dangerous situations. Officials warned that anyone putting minors at risk will be thoroughly investigated and held accountable under the law.
