The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as Akoto Nelson, for allegedly impersonating a police officer to gain free access to a musical concert held at the Black Star Square in Accra.

According to police reports, the suspect was apprehended after security personnel noticed inconsistencies in his uniform and identification during the event. Upon interrogation, Nelson confessed that the police uniform he wore originally belonged to a deceased Chief Inspector named Gyasi, from whom he claimed to have obtained it in 2022.

A subsequent search conducted at his residence in Taifa-Ashaiman led to the discovery of several items, including a toy pistol, pepper spray, multiple mobile phones, and identification documents.

Police say investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspect has used the uniform or other paraphernalia to commit additional offenses.

The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the public against impersonating law enforcement officers, warning that such acts undermine public trust and carry severe legal consequences under Ghanaian law.
