Man’s Affair with Wife’s Younger Sister Sparks Outrage and Cleansing Rituals at Ankaase

A man from Ankaase, near Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, has allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with his wife’s younger sister, an incident that has shocked residents and compelled traditional leaders to perform cleansing rituals to restore spiritual harmony in the community.

According to reports, rumors about the affair had circulated for weeks before the man eventually confessed, confirming the suspicions of locals.

Speaking to Adom News after the ritual, Nana Owusu Ansah, the Ankaasehene Abusuapanin, said the community could not overlook the spiritual and moral implications of the act. Traditional leaders, therefore, performed purification rites to cleanse both the family and the entire town.

“The rituals involved the use of alcoholic beverages and a sheep, which were offered by the riverside to pacify the gods and restore balance,” Nana Owusu Ansah explained.

He expressed deep concern, revealing that the victim, the man’s wife’s younger sister, had only just completed Junior High School.

“It is a shameful and heartbreaking act. The man already has five children with his wife and should have known better,” he lamented.

The traditional leader further disclosed that the man fled the community before the rituals were performed.

“If he had been present, the rites would have protected him from the curse. But by running away, he now bears the full spiritual consequences alone,” Nana Owusu Ansah added.

Community members say the incident has sparked conversations about morality, family values, and the need for stronger communal discipline to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
