President of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF), Mr. Stephen Adjokatcher, has been elected Vice President of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), marking a major milestone for Ghana and the African logistics sector.
The election, held during the 2025 FIATA World Congress in Hanoi, Vietnam, from October 6 to 10, brought together over 1,000 leaders and experts from 100 countries under the theme “Green and Resilient Logistics.”
Mr. Adjokatcher triumphed in a tightly contested race involving 13 other candidates from countries including India, Italy, Colombia, Vietnam, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Iran, Chinese Taipei, and Egypt.
In his acceptance speech, he expressed deep gratitude to the newly elected FIATA President, Thomas Sim from Singapore, and Director-General, Mr. Stephane Graber, for their trust and support. He pledged to work collaboratively with global stakeholders to address the evolving challenges in supply chain dynamics, digitalization, and sustainability.
“The world is experiencing rapid changes in logistics and trade. As Vice President, I am committed to developing future-oriented solutions that keep the freight forwarding industry resilient, efficient, and inclusive,” Mr. Adjokatcher said.
Before his election, he had already spearheaded initiatives linking the Togolese Freight Forwarders Association (UPRAD TOGO) to FIATA, expanding the federation’s reach and strengthening regional collaboration in West Africa.
A veteran freight forwarder with decades of experience, Mr. Adjokatcher is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Santa Shipping Company. His tenure as GIFF President has been marked by reforms in regulation, digital transformation, and capacity building within Ghana’s logistics industry.
FIATA, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, represents over 40,000 forwarding and logistics firms globally. Mr. Adjokatcher’s election reinforces Africa’s growing influence in shaping the future of global trade logistics and sustainability-driven transport systems.
