The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, has clarified her recent comments regarding the ongoing probe into election-related violence, explaining that her statements were taken out of context.
Speaking to the media, the MP emphasized that she did not deny reports of attacks during the elections but instead called for a fair and transparent investigation by the task force handling the matter.
“I never said there were no attacks. What I meant was that we must focus on the truth and allow the investigative bodies to do their work fairly,” she explained.
Sharing her personal experience, Naa Koryoo recounted the fear and tension she and her campaign team endured during the election period. She expressed gratitude to the President, the Minister for the Interior, and the Speaker of Parliament for their roles in ensuring calm and promoting justice.
She also commended the security agencies and her constituents for maintaining peace in the face of provocation and called on all political actors to prioritize national unity over partisan interests.
“We can only move forward as a nation if we choose peace over conflict and truth over division,” she said.
