Popular Ghanaian actress and television host Nana Ama McBrown has openly announced that her marriage to Maxwell Mensah has ended after nine years.
In a candid interview, McBrown explained that the past two years have been some of the most challenging of her life, as she faced difficulties in her marriage, career, and health at the same time. According to her, the three things she held closest to her heart began to crumble at different moments, testing her strength but ultimately building her resilience.
She revealed that the decision to separate was mutual and peaceful, stressing that there was no hostility between her and her former husband.
“We did not fight or become bitter. We were both exhausted, so we sat down, spoke honestly, and agreed to move on in peace. Yes, I am divorced, and I am not ashamed to say it. Divorce does not mean the end of a woman’s life,” she stated.
McBrown noted that the respectful nature of their separation has made it possible for them to maintain a healthy and friendly relationship even after the marriage.
“My ex-husband and I are cool. We talk often. We meet. I visit our home and still see my in-laws. We are very good friends. It was not a bitter breakup,” she added.
Speaking about her family, the actress described her daughter, Maxin, as the most valuable gift she gained from the marriage, calling her priceless.
Although the divorce was emotionally difficult, McBrown said she is now in a much better place mentally and emotionally.
“At this point in my life, I am truly happy. I am a happy woman,” she affirmed.
She also used the opportunity to encourage women who may be going through similar struggles not to lose hope. Drawing from her own experience with serious health challenges, she said surviving those moments alone is evidence of God’s grace and a reminder that life can still be meaningful after hardship.
