Legal practitioner and former NPP Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Yeboah Boahene, has delivered a sharp critique of Ghana’s political leadership, calling on both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to raise their standards for the sake of national development.
Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia morning show with host Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Nana Obiri Boahene expressed concern over what he described as “mediocre leadership” across the political divide. He stressed that Ghana’s progress has been hindered by leaders who must “up their game” if the country is to achieve meaningful development.
He urged Ghanaians to consciously embrace and consume made-in-Ghana goods as a practical and patriotic step toward strengthening the country’s economy. According to him, increased patronage of local products will not only support domestic industries but also reduce the nation’s dependence on imports.
Addressing questions about the ongoing Torkonoo case, Nana Obiri Boahene stated that he would refrain from making public comments until the lawyers handling the case have completed their legal processes. He described his silence as an act of respect for the legal team, emphasizing the importance of allowing due process to run its course.
Nana Obiri Boahene’s remarks add to ongoing national conversations about leadership accountability, economic resilience, and respect for legal institutions.
