The NDC government, led by Regional Minister Hon. Joseph Nelson, recently honored the late Edim Kesse at Wassa Akropong, bringing together prominent dignitaries from the region. The event was attended by Members of Parliament, including Hon. Eric Aful (Wassa Amenfi West), Hon. Nicholas Amankwah (Wassa Amenfi West), Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe (Wassa Amenfi Central), and Hon. Issah Taylor (Tarkwa Nsuaem).
Also in attendance were the Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for Wassa Amenfi West, Wassa Amenfi Central, and Amenfi East, namely Hon. Raymond Nana Ebba, Hon. Peter Amponsah, and Hon. Priscilla York, respectively. The dignitaries were accompanied by constituency and branch executives, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
During the event, a cash donation of One Hundred and Eighty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 180,000) was made to support educational funds and development projects in the Amenfi traditional area. This gesture demonstrates the NDC government’s commitment to promoting education and development in the region.
In his speech, the Regional Minister highlighted several major development projects that are currently underway or about to commence in the region. These include:
– Road Construction: The construction of key roads, such as the Bawdie to Asankragwa-Agona to Sehwi Bekwai road, Asanka Breman-Fojourkrom road, and Semre Aboi to Mumuni-Prestia Nkwata road.
– Establishment of College of Education: The Minister also announced plans to establish a College of Education in Wassa Amenfi, which is expected to provide opportunities for students in the region to pursue teacher training and other educational programs.
The event served as a testament to the NDC government’s commitment to promoting development and supporting education in the region. The cash donation and announcement of major development projects are expected to have a significant impact on the lives of residents in the Amenfi traditional area.
