The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Justin Frimpong Koduah, has predicted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) may concede defeat in the 2028 elections, mirroring their party’s experience in 2024. He made the remarks in an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi.

“We were all disappointed with the results in the 2024 election,” Koduah said. “But looking at the current performance of the NDC, it’s clear to me that Ghanaians are increasingly dissatisfied, and it’s likely they will vote them out in 2028.”

He criticised the NDC for failing to fulfil key campaign promises. “They promised to eradicate galamsey, but today, illegal mining has worsened, destroying more lands and polluting our water bodies,” he said.

Koduah also highlighted the party’s inaction on LGBTQ+ issues, stating, “They promised to sign documents preventing LGBTQ+ influence in the country, yet nothing has been done, even though they have the parliamentary majority and committed to tackle it within two months in office.”

On the National Cathedral, he remarked, “While in opposition, they criticised our spending on the National Cathedral. Now, they claim there is no problem with it.”

He further raised concerns about living costs and utility tariffs, saying, “They claim the dollar rate has gone down, but prices are still high. Electricity and water tariffs have been increased, and government workers like doctors, teachers, and nurses remain unpaid.”

Koduah also condemned the removal of the Chief Justice, observing, “They have sacked the Chief Justice, Torkornoo, paving the way for every government to bring in their own Chief Justice. This undermines judicial independence.”

He concluded, “All Ghanaians are praying for the four years to elapse so they can vote them out of power.”
