A 26-year-old Nigerian, Victor Benjamin Fejemirokun, has been apprehended by the Eastern South Regional Police Command in Ghana for his alleged involvement in the abduction and killing of a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer and her young daughter in Nigeria.

The suspect became the focus of a nationwide manhunt after a video circulated online in Nigeria showing him allegedly kidnapping the FRSC officer and her child in Abeokuta, sparking public outrage.

Following the incident, Fejemirokun reportedly fled Nigeria and crossed into Ghana, where he hid in Akyem Wenchi, Akwatia, with the assistance of friends.

Police intelligence confirmed his presence in the area, prompting a coordinated operation by the Eastern South Regional Police Command that led to his arrest.

Fejemirokun is currently in custody as investigations continue. Authorities say preparations are underway to extradite him to Nigeria to face prosecution.

The arrest highlights effective cross-border collaboration between law enforcement agencies and Ghana’s commitment to preventing its territory from being used as a refuge by individuals involved in serious crimes.
