Former Member of Parliament for Offinso South, Hon. Ben Abdula Banda, has rejected claims that Dr. MahamuduBawumia was responsible for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, Hon. Banda stated that no official assessment or report has blamed the party’s defeat on Dr. Bawumia.
“There is no report anywhere that indicates the NPP lost the 2024 general election because of Dr. Bawumia,” he said.
He described Dr. Bawumia as a central figure within the party, emphasizing his long-standing contributions to its growth and governance.
“Dr. Bawumia is a strong member of our party. He is one of the key contributors to the NPP,” Hon. Banda noted.
The former MP also dismissed allegations of unfair practices within the party’s internal elections, insisting that the NPP upholds transparency and fairness.
“We have never imposed any candidate on party members, and we do not cheat or steal votes,” he stated.
According to him, the party operates under strict electoral guidelines that ensure credibility and equal participation.
“We have clear rules that guide our elections. Every candidate is allowed to have polling agents, and the party provides equal opportunities for members to vote freely,” he explained.
Hon. Banda expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership efforts, adding that his dedication would eventually yield positive results for the party.
“Dr. Bawumia has put in so much effort, and his hard work will surely pay off,” he concluded.
