Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has pledged to cover the medical expenses of any supporters injured in a mass stabbing attack that occurred on a train on Saturday.

The incident took place aboard a London-bound LNER train from Doncaster, hours after Forest’s 2–2 Premier League draw with Manchester United at the City Ground.

According to reports, eleven passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital, with two remaining in a critical condition. Many of the victims are believed to be Forest supporters returning home after the match.

“Everyone at Nottingham Forest is shocked and deeply saddened by what happened,” Marinakis said. “The courage and selflessness shown by our supporters on that train represent the very best of humanity and of our club’s community.”

He added that the club will ensure affected fans receive financial and medical assistance as they recover.

“We will make sure any supporter caught up in this incident receives whatever support they need to access the best possible care,” he stated. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.”

Eyewitness Alistair Day, who was travelling back to Hertford after the match, described scenes of chaos and fear.

“I was near the buffet car when I noticed people running and shouting. At first, I thought it was a prank, maybe students joking around, but then I saw people covered in blood and realised it was serious,” Day recalled.

In an official statement, Nottingham Forest expressed “deep concern and heartfelt sympathy” for everyone impacted by the attack, commending fans who intervened to protect others.

“The club is aware that many individuals demonstrated extraordinary bravery which undoubtedly helped prevent even greater harm,” the statement read. “The entire Nottingham Forest family stands firmly behind them as they recover.”

Authorities are continuing investigations into the incident.
