The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of campaigning in Kpandai with what he describes as “deceptive development promises” aimed at influencing voters ahead of the constituency’s election re-run.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr. Kodua alleged that the NDC is urging residents to vote for its parliamentary candidate on the grounds that the party currently holds power and can therefore deliver development projects. He argued that similar promises made by the NDC in the Akwatia constituency ahead of the 2024 elections proved empty.

“They made promises to the people of Akwatia and even brought in tractors to create the impression they were constructing roads, but they never fulfilled those commitments,” he said. “This is the same strategy they are now taking to Kpandai.”

Mr. Kodua also alleged that the NDC engaged in acts of electoral misconduct in several constituencies during the 2024 general elections, citing Suhum, Obuasi East, Dome-Kwabenya, and Ahafo Ano North as examples. According to him, the party capitalised on its national presidential victory to forcibly take parliamentary seats it did not legitimately win.

“They destroyed ballot papers and pink sheets so that there would be no evidence of what they had done,” he claimed. “These actions have set a dangerous precedent and are encouraging misbehaviour at polling stations during elections.”
