The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has firmly distanced itself from comments allegedly made by the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, Kwaku Asante Boateng, describing the statements as “unfortunate” and inconsistent with the values of the Party.
In a statement released by the Party’s National Secretariat and signed by General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua on Friday, November 1, 2025, the NPP reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to unity, inclusivity, and equality within the Ghanaian political space.
“The National Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party has noted with concern certain comments attributed to the Honourable Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, Kwaku Asante Boateng, and considers such a statement unfortunate. The Party, therefore, disassociates itself from those remarks,” the statement said.
The leadership reiterated that the NPP’s foundation rests on the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, and equal opportunity, and that these ideals remain the cornerstone of its national vision.
“As a political tradition founded on these values, the NPP is committed to fostering a society where every Ghanaian, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or social background, can participate meaningfully in governance and national development,” the Party emphasized.
Reaffirming its inclusive culture, the statement clarified that political membership and recognition within the Party are determined not by personal identity but by loyalty, commitment, and service to the NPP’s vision and the broader national interest.
“The NPP welcomes all citizens who share its ideals and are prepared to contribute to Ghana’s democratic and developmental progress,” the statement concluded.
The Party’s response comes amid growing public debate over comments attributed to the Asante Akim South legislator, which many described as divisive. By swiftly addressing the issue, the NPP seeks to reinforce its message of unity, tolerance, and national cohesion ahead of the upcoming political season.
