The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Youth Wing has announced plans to stage a protest on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to demonstrate against what they describe as “state-sponsored police harassment” targeting party members. This move comes after the Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC), was remanded into police custody for one week.
The NPP Youth Wing claims that recent arrests and court actions against party leaders are politically motivated, and they aim to resist what they perceive as an abuse of state power. The party’s National Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha, made the announcement in a Facebook post, citing concerns about the treatment of NPP members by law enforcement agencies.
Details of the Protest
– Date: Tuesday, September 23, 2025
– Purpose: To protest state-sponsored police harassment and petition the Inspector General of Police (IGP) against politically motivated arrests and harassment of NPP officials and sympathizers
The NPP Youth Wing is concerned that the arrests and court actions against party leaders are politically motivated, and they aim to bring attention to this issue through their protest. The party’s leaders, including Kwame Baffoe and Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), are under investigation for alleged crimes, fueling the party’s concerns about targeted harassment.
The NPP Youth Wing is calling on its supporters and members to join the protest and stand against what they perceive as an abuse of state power. The party aims to demonstrate its resolve to protect its members and uphold their rights.
