The founder for Union Government, Akwasi Addae Odike, has issued a scathing critique of the current political landscape, accusing the government of fostering disunity through favoritism and economic mismanagement.

Speaking on Sompa FM, the businessman-turned-politician argued that the success of any administration depends entirely on the collective support of the people, support that is currently being eroded by partisan discrimination.

Odike alleged that the government has abandoned the principle of equal opportunity, opting instead to reward political loyalists and family members while sidelining the broader citizenry.

”If Ghanaians support your governance, that is when your governance goes well,” Odike stated. “But when you do selective governance to specific political groups and families, this makes it very unfair. There should be access to equal opportunities; Ghana is for all of us and it should be treated as such.”

He further claimed that the administration is engaging in “choose and pick” tactics regarding state contracts and the distribution of resources.

”The government is doing ‘choose and pick’ contractors. People are being called and given money just because they are part of that political party. If we have not talked about it, it does ot mean we are not wise. That is not how a government should be run.”

Addressing recent claims of economic stability, Odike dismissed government reports of falling prices. He argued that any perceived reduction in costs is not a result of sound policy, but rather a lack of liquidity within the market.

”The claim that prices have gone down is because there is not enough Cedis in the system, so such claims should be stopped,” he remarked.

Odike also took a moment to offer a personal assessment of past leadership, specifically noting his dissatisfaction with the early stages of the previous administration.

”I did not see the first year of President Mahama’s governance well,” he noted. “This is my opinion; I am not speaking on behalf of other Ghanaians.”

The UG founder concluded by warning that the current trajectory of “selective governance” is the primary source of friction in Ghanaian society today. He called for an immediate end to the discrimination against citizens based on their political affiliations.

”This is unfair, and it is the source of disunity in this country. All the illegalities the government is doing are being known by us,” he cautioned.
