The Oti Region is set to receive its first modern sports stadium as part of the government’s renewed commitment to improving sports infrastructure and developing young talent across Ghana.
The Minister for Sports and Recreation and Member of Parliament for Buem Jasikan, Kofi Adams Iddi, made the announcement during the 65th anniversary celebration of Bueman Senior High School. He revealed that the Oti Region is among seven regions earmarked to benefit from the construction of new state-of-the-art stadiums under the Ministry’s nationwide sports enhancement project.
According to the Minister, the initiative will not only uplift the region’s sports profile but also empower youth to train and compete at higher levels. “Sports has the power to unite communities and transform lives. This facility will bring out the best in our youth,” he said.
In addition to the regional stadium, Mr. Adams Iddi disclosed plans for a modern sports complex at Bueman Senior High School. The complex will feature basketball, volleyball, tennis, and handball courts, serving both students and residents of nearby communities.
He further announced that the Ministry of Sports and Recreation will support the school with textbooks, sports kits, and digital learning devices to strengthen both academic and extracurricular development.
Mr. Adams Iddi also revealed ongoing efforts to establish a National School Authority, an institution that will ensure schools from the basic to tertiary levels have steady access to educational and sporting resources.
The project reflects government’s broader vision of using sports as a tool for education, inclusion, and youth empowerment, and marks a major milestone for the Oti Region’s development and visibility on the national sports map.
