The stage is set at the Accra Sports Stadium this Sunday. Under the floodlights and the roar of home fans, Ghana’s Black Stars will face Comoros in a make-or-break World Cup qualifier, a game that demands just one point for Ghana to book a ticket to the 2026 Mundial.
But head coach Otto Addo isn’t taking anything for granted. Speaking ahead of the showdown, he reminded both players and supporters that Comoros are no pushovers.
“They’ve been doing good work over the years, and we in Ghana have felt it before,” Addo cautioned. “They’re very strong, especially up front. It’s going to be a difficult match.”
The island nation has steadily earned respect on the African stage, thanks to their tactical discipline and fearless style. Addo, acknowledging their progress, praised their coach for crafting a versatile and unpredictable side.
“They have a really good coach who understands the game and plays with different systems. They are difficult to beat,” he said.
Still, the Black Stars boss believes in his team’s preparation and mindset, pointing to their impressive performance against Mali as proof of what they can achieve with the right attitude.
“If we have the right mentality like against Mali, we will beat them,” Addo said confidently. “We’ve analysed their strengths and weaknesses, and we know what we want to do.”
For Ghana, Sunday’s match is more than just a qualifier, it’s another chapter in a football journey that has seen the Black Stars shine on global stages in Germany (2006), South Africa (2010), Brazil (2014), and Qatar (2022).
Now, the focus shifts to Comoros, one last hurdle between Ghana and another World Cup dream.
