The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has confirmed that two major allowances scheduled for payment this month were not processed following a last-minute technical failure during payroll finalization.

In a statement dated November 25 and signed by Cephas N. Dosco, Head of Public Relations, the department explained that a critical system hitch occurred during the final run of the payroll. This disruption left officials with no option but to temporarily halt the affected allowances to avoid jeopardizing the timely release of November salaries for all government workers.

According to CAGD, the move was necessary to ensure that the main Government of Ghana salary payments were not delayed, especially for thousands of public sector workers across the country.

The department acknowledged that many of those affected are in the education sector, which forms a large share of the allowance beneficiaries, and assured them that corrective measures are already underway.

CAGD further announced that the unpaid allowances will be rolled into the December 2025 payroll and disbursed on 18th December 2025.

“We regret the inconvenience caused and sincerely appreciate your patience,” the statement concluded.
