The Western Regional Police Command has arrested five people in connection with a chieftaincy-related murder at Asemkor in the Agona Nkwanta District.

The incident, which occurred on October 6, 2025, led to the death of John Abban, brother of the chiefs of Butre and Asemkor.

In a statement issued on October 21, the police said three suspects, Kennedy Abor (alias Abongo, 30), Kojo Attah Panyi (20), and Joseph Basses (30), were arrested at their hideout in Funko on October 15 after an intelligence-led operation by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.

Two others, Abraham Cudjoe (alias Yalle, 39) and Ekow Painstil (45), were later arrested at Afuaman Ayigbe Town in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region through a joint operation between the Western and Accra Regional Intelligence teams.

Police say all five suspects are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
