The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested two men in connection with a violent robbery and carjacking incident at Mpatasie, near St. Anthony Hospital in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects, identified as 30-year-old Issaka Jamal and 40-year-old Kwadwo Badu, were captured on Saturday, November 8, 2025, after attempting to escape from officers along the Ofankor–St. John’s stretch of the Accra–Nsawam Highway.
According to police reports, one of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound during the arrest, while the other suffered minor injuries. Both are currently receiving medical treatment at the Police Hospital in Accra.
Preliminary investigations reveal that on Friday, November 7, the suspects, together with other accomplices still at large, attacked two occupants of an unregistered silver Hyundai Tucson (DV-5357-Z) at Mpatasie. The robbers allegedly made away with GH¢120,000 in cash, three mobile phones, identity cards, work tools, and other valuables before fleeing with the vehicle.
A swift police operation led to the recovery of the stolen Hyundai Tucson, GH¢5,900 in cash, a customized number plate marked “Congo-1-24,” and several other exhibits. All recovered items have been secured at the Police Headquarters in Accra.
Police say efforts are underway to track down the remaining members of the robbery gang.
The Ghana Police Service, in a statement, reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-led operations aimed at clamping down on criminal networks and ensuring justice for victims.
