Social commentator Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after making accusations that several Regional Ministers were involved in illegal mining.
Yeboah made the allegations during a phone-in contribution on a radio programme, where he suggested that the Ashanti, Eastern, and Western Regional Ministers were complicit in galamsey activities. He further urged the NIAMOS task force to direct its investigations toward the ministers.
His arrest followed a petition filed by Daniel Sasu Omari and two others, who insisted that the activist’s comments were fabricated and damaging to the reputations of the officials involved.
Police sources say Yeboah is cooperating with investigators and is expected to appear before court on Thursday, November 27, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on what authorities describe as deliberate misinformation targeted at public officials.
Although the CID has not disclosed additional details, Yeboah has already issued a public apology and retracted the allegations.
