The Ahafo Regional Police Task Force has intercepted a vehicle transporting about 1,500 pieces of Trama King 250mg (tramadol) during an operation along the Goso–Atta Mills Road.
Confirming the operation, the police said the interception formed part of ongoing efforts to curb the circulation of illicit and controlled substances within the region.
“During the operation, our officers stopped a vehicle and,upon inspection, discovered about 1,500 pieces of Trama King 250mg concealed in the car,” police disclosed.
According to the police, preliminary interrogation of the driver revealed that the consignment was allegedly handed over to him in Kumasi and was being transported to another destination.
“The driver indicated during questioning that the drugs were picked up in Kumasi and he was instructed to deliver them elsewhere,” the police stated.
The suspect has since been taken into custody to assist with investigations, while the seized drugs have been secured as evidence.
Police say investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the consignment and identify other individuals who may be linked to the illegal transport and distribution of the substance.
The Ahafo Regional Police Command has reiterated its resolve to sustain operations aimed at clamping down on drug trafficking and safeguarding public health and safety.
